This prestigious development of 11 new office units on a business park was met with such high demand that almost all of the units were either sold off-plan or secured long-term leases. The steel portal frame design utilised a large soffit detail to overcome potential solar gain concerns and also provided a unique outside balcony detail for the occupants.
The impact of the bulk of the building was also reduced with the clever use of timber cladding on the first floor levels and gable ends to help break the building up. As the site was also on a steep bank in one section, the building design was stepped to utilise the existing contours and negate a costly earth moving exercise.
This Design and Build Contract was single sourced to us by a rapidly growing private company providing tailored chairs and seats for disabled people. The technology was started by making moulds for racing car seats which then evolved into providing moulds for wheelchair occupants.
The requirement for the company was for a bespoke 12,000ft2 factory and office facility and works are scheduled to start in March 2016 with a 9 month Construction Programme.
